2024: What I Learned About Survival, Strength, and Showing Up

This year was a whirlwind—navigating new mom life and running on caffeine while still finding ways to prioritize my health. It wasn’t perfect, but it was full of growth.

—> ⌚️ My Life with Whoop— I’ve been a proud WHOOP wearer for 4 years now (1,306 days!), tracking my sleep, strain, and recovery. And let me tell you, 2024’s data told the story of my life with a breastfeeding newborn:

  • 🛌 Sleep: I averaged 6.9 hours per night, beating the Whoop average of 6.8, but only 36% of the time did I get enough to “get by”. Best nights? Thursdays. (When I would crash) Worst sleep? Sundays. (Some Sundays scaries?) My consistency was only at 68%, so improving that and going to bed at a consistent time is on my 2025 to-do list. Especially with all the late-night feedings, I didn’t hold back on the snacks! But Breastfeeding has been a whole journey in and of itself.

  • Survival Mode: The Spring was all about surviving. Between adjusting to life with a baby and traveling to Florida and California for RISE, I took a break from wearing my Whoop for three months. I didn’t need numbers to tell me I was drained—my body felt it.

🔥 Highest Strain: July 3rd—the day I started moving our new event and rental business… (the one that didn’t work out for us). It was stressful, sweaty, and oh-so-exhausting. To top it off, I got sick because of this and missed seeing fireworks and Mt. Joy at Summerfest the next day... I’m still not over it. But now that I’m back to tracking consistently, it feels good to see progress and find my rhythm again.

💪 Recovery & Movement: Despite the chaos, my recovery averaged in the green (even hit the 99th percentile club!). My HRV has improved year over year, which is a sign that my long-term performance is improving. I logged 234 stretching sessions, confirming that even small, consistent efforts count. I tracked 30+ hours of functional fitness and averaged 13,000 steps/day because, let’s be honest, momming is cardio. Oh, and I’m officially back to my pre-baby weight of 176 (down from 236 right before I popped)!

🛑 Lessons Learned: caffeine, late nights, and stressful work were my biggest recovery killers (no surprise there). But eating healthy, spending time with family, and practicing gratitude made a huge difference.

Looking Ahead 2024 wasn’t about perfection but showing up, adjusting, and learning. Here’s to better sleep, fewer late nights, doing less for others, and continuing to care for myself while caring for my family in 2025. This isn’t just about talking the talk; it’s about walking the walk. How are you showing up in 2025?

All I know is I’ve got this.
