Salt + Soil: A Return to What’s Real

Updated: Jul 16

Hey friends,

The last few months have been full of stretching — emotionally, mentally, even physically (hello, Florida heat). I’ve shared some of that with you: the messy middle, the behind-the-scenes of parenting, partnering, adjusting, and figuring out this next chapter in real time.

But what I haven’t shared — until now — is what’s been growing beneath the surface.

Because out of all this change, something deeper has been taking root.

This isn’t just a pivot or a project. It’s a return. A remembering.

And it’s been a long time coming...

This Dream Has Roots

Back in 2017, Anthony and I attended our first personal development retreat together in Arizona, led by the late and great Sean Stephenson. We didn’t know it at the time, but that trip cracked something open. A desire to grow. To hold space. To create something meaningful that helped others feel less alone and more fully themselves.

Since then, we’ve spent the better part of a decade creating powerful spaces through our nonprofit work, supporting social causes, personal and professional intensives, healing circles, youth programming, and adult trainings. We’ve poured our hearts into building for others.

But lately, something’s shifted.

The nonprofit is thriving with new leadership. And now, so are we — in a different way.

We’re not starting over. But we are ready to build what’s next… for us.

Enter Salt + Soil: A Home for What’s Real

If you’re wondering… Salt + Soil didn’t just come to us; it came through us.

It’s the clearest reflection of who we are... together.

Salt is Anthony.

It’s the edge. The energy. The untamed element that brings depth to every room he walks into.

It’s the truth in his laughter, the boldness in his ideas, the heat in his hustle. (see what I did there ;)

Salt is the spark — the element that doesn’t just flavor life, it elevates it.

He’s movement and momentum. The one who names the thing no one else will say.

Who challenges the room to go deeper, not just to feel, but to face it.

He doesn’t just capture stories... he embodies them.

Behind the lens, on a stage, or around the table —

He turns ordinary into unforgettable.

Bringing soul to the surface.

He doesn’t force connection, he invites it.

He brings fire and fluidity. The kind of presence that doesn’t play small,

but makes space for everyone to show up fully.

He’s the grit when things get hard.

The humor when it all feels too heavy.

The reminder that healing can be fierce AND still full of joy.

Salt isn’t afraid to sting because it knows the wound sometimes needs cleaning before it can heal.

And Anthony? He’s that honest, healing kind of salt.

The one who doesn’t shy away from what’s real —

but leans in, so others feel brave enough to do the same.

Soil is Nadine.

It’s the ground beneath your feet. The quiet strength that steadies the storm.

It’s how she holds space with depth and softness, inviting you to drop the performance and just be.

She sees the unseen. Hears what’s not spoken. And welcomes all of it... the grief, the joy, the in-between.

She’s the breath before the breakthrough. The warmth that asks nothing of you but authenticity.

The one who reminds you that healing is not a show... it's a return.

To slowness. To presence. To the parts of you still learning how to bloom.

She doesn’t rush the process — she trusts in it.

With roots that reach deep and a heart that holds wide,

she creates space where transformation can take its time.

Where rest is sacred. Where stories unfold gently.

Where you can exhale and mean it.

She is the soil that nourishes the real work.

The steady hum beneath the surface whispering: You’re allowed to grow here.

Together, Salt + Soil is a return.

To what’s real.

To what heals.

To what lasts.

It’s not about perfection —

It’s about presence.

And we’re just getting started.

What We’re Creating

This won’t be another retreat filled with presentations and performance.

It’s a container for what’s real.

🌿 Intimate Retreats – held in Florida and eventually the northwoods of Wisconsin, rooted in storytelling, movement, healing, and seasonal rhythm.

📸 Impact Through Art – Anthony’s lens will tell stories that need to be seen. From street photography to community portraits, we’ll use visuals to elevate truth and resilience.

🎙️ Sound and Somatics – Our voice work, breathwork, and storytelling practices will offer grounded tools for people to connect back to their body and their truth.

🥗 Nourishing Food + Shared Tables – Food won’t be an afterthought. It will be part of the healing, the gathering, and the ritual of coming together.

Together, we’ll weave movement, sound, presence, and purpose into every offering.

Giving Back

At Salt + Soil, we believe healing isn’t something you keep —

it’s something you pass on.

That every space we hold

should echo beyond the room.

So we give with intention, with integrity, with roots in community.

🌿 We’ll gather with local artists, small businesses, and healers — weaving their gifts into every experience.

🌿 We’ll create access — through scholarships, shared meals, and moments that say, “You belong here.”

🌿 We’ll amplify the work of women-led brands and co-facilitators — because healing is richer when shared.

🌿 And through our offerings — even the ones you wear — we’ll give back to causes that matter.

Because the most meaningful work isn’t what we build for ourselves —

it’s what we build together.

We’re Not Here to Perform

We’re here to live it.

This is for the ones who are tired of being “on.”

Who want to lead without losing themselves.

Who are ready to heal without needing to explain their pain.

Who want a safe space to just be — and maybe even find what’s next.

The Next Step

We’re still in the becoming. But it’s happening.

So if this speaks to you… if your body exhales when you think about rest, creativity, connection, and something real, then stay close.

We’re building this with intention, not urgency.

And we’re so grateful you’re here to witness the becoming.

With love, grit, and deep roots,

Nadine + Anthony
